There's a new group forming on the North Shore, practicing Creative Resistance. In times such as these, we often find ourselves feeling like there's nothing we can do; we can feel angry, frustrated, helpless, hopeless, isolated.
Creative Resistance, or creating art together in some form, brings us and ties us together as a community. It gives us a project, a purpose to work for, together, that can make a statement and make a difference. If you are willing, there is a place for you in this movement. It is in this way that we can rally together, come together, as community, and work towards justice & a Democratic America. Come to the BitBar for this first meeting to strategize, socialize and specify our plans going forward. We hope to create a plan for a community mural project and need ideas and input - this means you! We invite you and welcome you to be a part of our actions. The next batch of postcards are due in soon, and we’re so happy were having a party!
The Progressive Turnout, who sponsors our postcards, has award-winning research that proves that postcards increase Democratic turnout by 1.3%. In 2020,their postcard program added thousands of votes in states critical to President Biden’s victory. In the 2022 midterms, their postcards added 22,500 votes in key races across the nation. This impact is roughly equivalent to 45,000 hours of door-to-door canvassing!
Come to our Postcard Party with your friends from Salem’s Call, and make out a few postcards of your own. This batch will be to support progressive candidates in the upcoming midterm in Maine. You merely need to write a short script given to you, as well as a name and address. If you’d rather fill out your postcards at home, no problem! Just contact us and we will be sure to get them to you.
